After all the excitement at the St. Helen Bluegill Festival on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the community comes together for the Grand Parade. The parade begins at Charlton Heston Academy and travels north to the traffic light at Airport Rd. and then west to the Festival at Richfield Township Park.
PARADE RULES AND INFORMATION
1. All entrants should be registered in advance to participate in the parade. Entry forms received by June 1 will receive high priority. Entrants without completed forms must fill out registration upon arrival at the parade grounds.
2. Line-up will be at 10:00 a. m. at Charlton Heston Academy, 1350 N. St. Helen Rd, St. Helen, Michigan. All entries must be present and in place no later than 10:45 p.m. Additional instruction will be given at the parade grounds.
3. By completing the entry form you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by the policies and procedures for the St. Helen Bluegill Festival Parade described below.
Policies and Procedures
Parade Image: Participants are requested to show respect for all people, businesses and organizations and be aware that children will be in attendance at this event.
Vehicles and Floats: Decoration: All entrants, except antique, custom cars, or specialty vehicles are to be decorated.
Safety: No alcoholic beverages or illegal substances may be on or in any unit. Drivers need appropriate license and insurance.
Item Distribution: Entrants are strongly encouraged to have walkers available to hand out candy, brochures and other items if desired. If direct handing is not an option, these items may be tossed gently to the side of the roadway. Entrants should be aware at all times that children may dart into the road to retrieve candy and other items. Care needs to be taken to ensure the safety of participants and people along the parade route.
Route: Travel will begin at Charlton Heston Academy and move North down N. St. Helen Road to Airport (the light) and then turn right and travel down Airport Rd to the Festival. Entrants are encouraged to attend the awards ceremony at 4pm in the pavillion, winners will be announced there.
